Peter McLaren is Distinguished Professor in Critical Studies, College of Education, Chapman University and Co-Director of the Paulo Freire Democratic Project. He is also Presidente Honorario y Fundador del Instituto McLaren de Pedagogia Critica y Educacion Popular Ensenada, B.C., Mexico ​ and Honorary Director, Center for Critical Studies in Education, Northeast Normal University, Changchun, China. ​ He received The Outstanding Educator in America Award from the Association of Professors of Latin American and the Caribbean in 2014.
